I was struck by inspiration this past week while SteveKam was away on business. I decided to get off my duff and back to my sewing machine.
I’ve had the Crepe pattern for a while now, but have been waiting for when I had some free time (ha!) to start it… I decided to just hang at home while the man was away. Layla Dog at my feet, I knocked out a wearable muslin and learned a lot about the fit of this adorable wrap dress.
I used a lightweight quilting cotton for the main and contrast fabrics – and decided to go with the sweetheart neckline, though it’s one that doesn’t usually catch my eye. I added a trim of bias tape in the contrast fabric along the neck and down the edges.
Overall, I’m quite pleased with this first draft! Next one, I will use some lighter cotton (I’m thinking cotton lawn – maybe a Liberty print) and will size down once in the bodice and maybe two sizes in the shoulders/cap sleeves. I think I’ll shoot for knee length or slightly above and would like to try out the scoop neckline. 🙂 Okay, so that’s a lot of changes, huh? Living dangerously, I guess.
I knocked out another wearable item over the weekend… pics to come. Look at me – suddenly quite productive! Let’s see if I can keep it up….
